School exams in Punjab on Feb 1

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to hold December examinations in all government schools across Punjab on February 1.

In November, the country shut its schools and postponed exams to try to curb new coronavirus infections and a rise in the number of people in hospital with Covid-19.

In a meeting of the Punjab School Education Department Thursday, it was decided the department will conduct objective-type papers for students while the annual exams are expected to be held at the end of April.

The provincial school education department will also provide online training to teachers.

As per the policy introduced by the provincial government, the department will be promoting students in the next class on the basis of 50 percent marks homework and 50 percent examination marks.

  1. The digital revolution in education had been in the offing for a long time, disrupting traditional brick-classrooms and face-to-face teaching was a writing on the wall. With the COVID-19 Pandemic it just only occurred much earlier due to impetus of its magnitude. Now this change is precipitated by and attributed to health instead of digital’s gradual technological impact. Now is the time to adapt, reskill, upskill and unlearn to upgrade both the virtual housekeeping of education rubrics and interaction. This silver lining in the cloud has raced the transformation on the way to digital savvy-state. It is an opportunity to get out of an old-moulded thinking and embrace disruption whole-heartedly as an option, as it becomes a compulsion before long.
