Babar not a brand because he’s not leading tech revolution nor providing energy solutions: Shoaib Akhtar

LAHORE: Fast bowling legend Shoaib Akhar has criticised national cricket team captain Babar Azam over his failure to become the “biggest brand”, which the former cricketer believes is owing to the batting superstars “inability to learn new things”.

“Apple’s brand value today is $355 billion. Amazon $350 billion. What is Babar Azam’s brand value? Why can’t he do what these big brands are doing?” said Akhtar while talking on Suno News.

“Tesla Inc is redefining electric cars and working on clean energy. Elon Musk owns Twitter and SpaceX hoping to take over virtual realms and physical outer space. How will Babar compete with these brands if he’s not leading a technology revolution, nor is he providing any renewable energy solutions,” he added.

Further asking the Pakistan skipper to come “out of his comfort zone”, Akhtar said that Babar should focus most of his energy on becoming a bigger brand.

“Forget space travel. Babar isn’t even competing with fast food chains. Even McDonald’s and KFC are a bigger brand than Babar Azam,” said Akhtar.

“I mean how difficult is it to learn how to fry chicken?”
