Open ballot: party leadership, not individual MPAs, should be able to sell votes, says PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that an open ballot should be able to remove the uncertainties of buying and selling votes by removing the clutter of dealing with sets of individual MPAs.

“The PML(N) was the party that had wanted open ballots back in the day,” said PM Imran Khan. “I don’t know what their problem is now.”

“Listen, other than the clutter of dealing with groups of individual MPAs, there is also the issue of these corrupt MPAs not even voting for your guys even if they gave you their word after taking the money.”

When contacted, sources from within both the PPP and the PML(N) have said that though they resent the passage of the ordinance, they are beginning to come round to the PTI’s point of view.
