Sherani to lead new breakaway JUI faction Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Israel

The recently expelled leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) are meeting in Islamabad next week to launch a new faction of the party Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Israel (JUI-I), The Dependent has reliably learnt.

The about-to-be-formed JUI-I will be led by Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani, and will also feature Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Gul Naseeb and Maulana Shujaul Mulk in the top tier of the party’s leadership.

The JUI-I, a faction that is aligned with Israel, and against Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has opened invitations to all those who fit either of the two ideological orientations.

“Any politician who is against Maulana Fazlur Rehman, or any Islamic cleric who wholeheartedly endorses ties with Israel can join JUI-I,” said a member of the JUI-I, requesting not be named.

“Unlike other JUIs and Islaami jamaats, ours is a purely ideological party based on Islamic principles. Our founding ideology is that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is a fraud and that there is Islamic, and geopolitical, justification for Pakistan to recognise Israel,” the JUI-I member added.

Maulana Sherani, the former chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), has already announced his support for ties with Israel.

Sources further confirm that following the formalisation of ties, the Sherani led JUI-I has already called dibs on the first JUI being launched in Israel.
