PM praises China for providing alternative model to Western concentration camps

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has praised the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as having a unique model, calling its Uyghur internment mechanism an alternative to Western concentration camps.

Speaking to Chinese journalists on Thursday as Beijing marked the centenary of the ruling Communist Party, Khan said: “Until now, we had been told that the best way for states to exterminate populations was to put them into concentration camps and kill them all.

“The CCP has introduced an alternative model where ethnic cleansing doesn’t only have to be achieved through killing or expelling people, but can be performed also eliminating culture, and erasing religion. And they have beaten all Western democracies in the way they have highlighted merit in persecution,” he said.

He said that persecution only succeeds when it has systems in place for subjugating the most problematic marginalised communities and in turn ensuring meritocracy. “Until now, the feeling was that killing entire communities is the best way to bring about genocide.”

“But the CCP has achieved much better [outcomes] without mass massacres. Their system for sifting through specific individuals and bringing them up for elimination, while working on a collective erasure of identity, is better than any Western concentration camp has ever offered,” he said.

PM Khan also said that Pakistan accepted Beijing’s version on Pakistan, condemning any and every propaganda.

“Because of our extreme proximity and relationship with China, we actually accept the Chinese version with on Pakistan —whatever it says, feels or does, or wants to say, feel or do”
