ISLAMABAD – Announcing a united response to persistent efforts to blackmail the party leadership, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders informed those threatening to leak their videos that the members of the ruling party do not fear them.
Addressing a joint Zoom call with the video-makers the PTI leaders told the blackmailers that there was nothing more shameful than some of the old tweets of the party members.
“You can’t possibly have anything to leak that would be more embarrassing for us than some of our own old tweets and Facebook posts — many of which we have deleted, but still haunt us through screenshots, but many of them still remain online,” the PTI leaders said in the Zoom meeting.
“In fact, our own old social media statements have now emboldened us enough to not fear anything going viral online,” they added.
The leaders further said they also have damage control mechanisms online through social media armies that are capable of twisting everything around.
However, the PTI leadership clarified that their position on blackmail, as discussed in the meeting, was specific to video leaks.
“Of course, there are many other ways in which you can blackmail, and indeed control us — as you already know. But not through threats of embarrassment and shame.”
