Pointing out the silver lining in the current crisis of inflation in the national economy, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Reza Baaqir Reza said that the food-insecure segment of the population is actually safer from food poisoning when compared with the segment of the population that has financial and physical access to food sources.
“The statistics are pretty clear on this,” said the central bank chief while speaking to reporters at a press conference. “In fact, I have cleared this statistical aspect from the SBP statistics department.”
“In this constant scenario of doom-and-gloom, a lot of which is entertained due to political motivations, we should not lose sight of the positives,” he said. “And this is a positive.”
“This is the positive, in fact. Because I haven’t been able to come up with something else.”
