KP taking untraditional steps for development of agriculture

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Mohibullah Khan has said that the provincial government was taking untraditional steps for the promotion of agriculture sector and welfare of the people associated with it.

Presiding over a meeting of the agriculture department and subsidiary sectors under the government’s 100-day plan on Tuesday, he directed the authorities concerned to finalise a feasible and comprehensive strategy for the development of agriculture sector during the next five years.

Agriculture Secretary Mohammad Israr Khan, Additional Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai, Livestock Director General and Focal Person for 100-day plans Dr Sher Mohammad, Livestock (Research) DG Dr Mirza Ali Khan, Fisheries DG Dr Khasro Kaleem, Agriculture (Extension) DG Nasimullah, Agriculture (Research) DG Naveed Khan, Water Management DG Khurshid Khan, Agriculture (Engineering) DG Mahmood Jan Babar and other authorities concerned attended the meeting at large.

The participants during the meeting discussed in detail the welfare of the livestock farmers, methods to increase the agriculture production, utilisation of modern technology for the development of agriculture sector, facilitation of farmers and resolution of their problems.

Expressing satisfaction over the encouraging planning under plans for the next five years, the provincial minister directed the officials to leave no stone unturned in the implementation of the government’s vision for the upliftment of the agriculture sector.

  1. 90% of the farmers have no access to the agriculture institution, The agriculture departments must take some solid steps to bring growth in the agriculture sector.
    China is the biggest agriculture producer in the world, and earning billions of dollars from agriculture output.

  2. Here in Pakistan agriculture is not done professionally. Unless we don’t take it to modern technology no major shift is possible. Govnment need to take steps like making know how of modern techniques accessible to farmers.
