Slow demand forces Pak Suzuki to shut down production for 4 days

Slow demand has forced the Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) to announce the other day that it would observe four non-production days – every Monday – during January.

According to vendors, the PSMC had also revised down production schedule of its hot cakes-like selling vehicle Alto 660cc car by 25 per cent for January.

In a notice sent to its vendors, the PSMC said that it would observe “Mondays of current month as NPDs owing to depressed demand.”

January is generally deemed as a recovery month for auto sales since buyers resume purchases every year due to change of model year and usually slowing down their buying activities in the months of November and December.

The vendors see Atlo was one of the main driving forces for Pak Suzuki amid sales crash in other vehicles like Cultus, Swift, Bolan and WagorR in the last few months.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Company has raised prices by Rs49,000-90,000 of almost all of its models from January 1.

Unlike Pak Suzuki, the Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) said the other day, “there will be no production off day in January. We will work all days.”

The Indus Motor Company (IMC) had not observed any NPDs in December while it had observed 4 to5 NPDs during November 2019. The IMC had closed production for 15 days in September as against eight days in July and 11-12 in August.

The IMC plant had been operating on single shift since start of second quarter of fiscal year 2QFY20. IMC official said. The IMC office said, “We are still working on single shift in January 2020 which means the plant is operating at 50pc capacity.”

  1. The PSMC knows it well but should give the true value of “Climate Change”to dealerships, and consumers, and customers, reselles in Pakistan for the happenings of Climate Change and the occurance of Japan.
This year in view of the Tokyo Olympics all PSMC production models are non compliant for Japanese roads/consumers.
Pakistan is now fully compliant to the “Climate Change” should/would adhere to the standards reccomended for compliance in the interest of loyalty of the customers, and loyalties established for decades.
