Coronavirus crisis an opportunity to revive Pakistan’s economy: Business experts

KARACHI: The ongoing coronavirus crisis has brought in a golden opportunity to revive Pakistan’s economy by prioritising e-commerce and online trading.

This was said by international business experts on Sunday at the concluding session of the Pakistan’s first ‘Virtual Retail Conference 2020’ held via Zoom video-conference platform.

Organised by the HR Legends Forum in collaboration with Chase Up Shopping City, the international retail conference was participated by over 200 retail professionals and business executives from Pakistan, the Middle East and the United States.

The primary objective of holding the retail conference was to discuss at length new challenges in the dynamics of retail businesses and their operations post Covid-19 crisis.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Raihaan Siddequee, the head of Human Resources Chase Up Shopping City, said the on-going coronavirus pandemic is turning out to be a game changer in the world of retail trade and shopping, creating millions of new jobs and online trading ventures as well as generating trillions in new business revenues around the world.

“The retail and e-commerce sector in Pakistan has now been thrust in an ideal position to make the most of the internet, computing and communication technologies in order to revive the national economic outlook by introducing innovations and bringing in new online services and shopping solutions available to people round-the-clock,” he added.

In his address, Zafar Aziz Osmani, the CEO of Excelerate, said the present age is the era of fierce competition, using the power of human excellence as a priority to revolutionise, change and simplify the way we lead our lives.

Ghulam Mustafa, the CEO of HR Legends Forum, emphasised the need of redefining the scope of retail business to accommodate emerging trends.
