Vaccines delayed because world not taking country led by SOPs-breaching covid spreader seriously: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday revealed that Pakistan hasn’t received a large chunk of the covid-19 vaccines because the leaders and organisations around the world are not taking a country led by a covid spreader seriously.

In a televised address, PM Khan called on people to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to covid-19 and avoid going to super spreader events such as weddings, parties, and prime minister’s meetings with the media team at Bani Gala.

“This third wave of covid-19 is more lethal than the previous ones and unfortunately you are paying the price for my refusal to follow the guidelines—that I have never followed, even after getting infected, despite shamelessly continuing to ask you to do the same,” the PM told the nation.

“Even our vaccines have been delayed, because the world is saying that they can’t take a country led by an openly quarantine-defying, SOPs-breaching, covid spreader seriously,” he added.

The PM further informed the nation that he hasn’t been able to change the mind of the world leaders despite having repeatedly told them that he is not the one actually leading the country.

“I told them that the actual leaders are seen wearing masks all the time, maintaining sufficient physical distance, establishing all the covid-19 SOPs during parades, drills, and all meetings near Gate No 4,” he said.

Even so, the PM repeated the mantra that ‘aap ne ghabrana nahi hai’ and told the nation that all bad situations have a silver lining, and an opportunity.

“For instance, you can use me as a bad example of what not to do during a pandemic as an average citizen, let alone as the prime minister of a country.”
