HBO offers to replace Axios host Jonathan Swan with Muneeb Farooq to mend fences with PM Imran

American television channel and web streaming team HBO has offered to the Government of Pakistan that it is prepared to replace Jonathan Swan, the host of Axios, its political show, with Muneeb Farooq.

The offer comes in the aftermath of the PTI-led government accusing Axios of editing out key bits of an interview with PM Imran Khan, whereby he was made to be seen in a negative light.

Even though the unedited version of the interview was indeed released and it seemed to be merely a lengthier version of the same views, the Prime Minister’s Office still upheld its insistence that Axios had done malicious editing.

“We understand [the Pakistani government]’s point of view,” said Len Amato is President of HBO Films, Miniseries and Cinemax Programming for Home Box Office. “After conferring with Pakistani news media, it would appear that replacing the offending figure with Geo News’s Muneeb Farooq is the appropriate course of action.”

“It would be a whole lot more work,” said Muneeb Farooq, speaking to The Dependent. “I would have to do this in addition to Capital Talk. But I suppose nothing I can’t handle, specially since I am not expected to veer off script.”
