Republic TV’s editorial fact-checking section also on Serena Kabul’s fifth floor, confirms Arnab Goswami

MUMBAI: Republic Media Network Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami has reconfirmed that his story about the Pakistan Army and intelligence staying at Kabul’s Serena Hotel is ‘102 percent correct’ and has been double-checked by Republic TV’s fact-checking section.

Talking exclusively with The Dependent, Goswami said that he personally got the fact-checking editors to reconfirm the story from the section which is also on the fifth floor of Serena Hotel in Kabul.

Republic is an international media house and we have our journalists and offices everywhere. We have our presence across Kabul, and I can reveal it to you, exclusively, hashtag #TheWorldNeedsToKnow, that Republic TV’s own fact-checking section is inside Serena Hotel,” he said.

The Republic TV editor and anchor confirmed that the location, situation and identities of the media houses fact-checkers have had to be concealed, including in Kabul, owing to security concerns.

“Let me be clear here that these security concerns are from Pakistan and Pakistan alone and now anyone else,” Goswami added, clarifying that he did not feel threatened by the flag-bearers of journalist ethics.

He further confirmed that most of the channel’s staff is actually based in Pakistan. “Which is why Republic is the number one channel when it comes to reporting about the country.”
