Shaheed Osama Bin Laden would never condone violence in the name of Islam, says PM in tweet to nation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the nation on Monday telling them to educate themselves with the teachings of Shaheed Osama Bin Laden.

Communicating with the nation via Twitter, the premier said that Shaheed Bin Laden would be disappointed with what Pakistan is doing in the name of Islam.

“We should be ashamed at how far we’ve come from the true religious teachings, and how we are shedding blood for faith. We should all learn from the life of Shaheed Osama Bin Laden, who would never have condoned violence in the name of Islam,” said the PM in the series of tweets.

PM Khan further elaborated that while Bin Laden should be ideologically followed, the government is also launching a crackdown on radical groups who are demeaning the very essence of their foundations.

“I’ve repeatedly said that I share the same goals as the TLP [Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistan]. I even said that I and the PTI’s [Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf] workers actually wanted to join their sit-in in 2017. That was a time when there was a clarity associated with the TLP, which changed after July 2018” the PM maintained.

“I can assure you that Ghazi Maulana Khadim Rizvi would not have liked what the TLP has become today and how it has lost its identity,” he continued.

“The Ghazi Maulana Khadim Rizvi of 2017 that is.”
