New overhauled PTI finalises untested strategy of winning election by getting more votes

ISLAMABAD: In what is a major breakthrough for the ruling party, the Pakistan Tehik-e-Insaf (PTI) has ushered a radical new shift in its political stratagem and unveiled a previously untested strategy that would see the PTI aim to win elections by receiving more votes than other parties, The Dependent has reliably learnt.

The move comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan dissolved the party structure, bringing forth a new overhauled PTI, which now aims to receive the most votes in constituencies based on most voters actually voting for the party’s candidates.

“This requires convincing people that they should vote for the PTI, which will then result in a higher chance of them actually voting for the PTI,” PM Khan said in an emergency party meeting with senior leaders, sources privy to the gathering have informed The Dependent.

“For that what we need to do — and this might shock some of you, so listen carefully — is to prove through actual work and action that we are the best option of the lot. Yes, we’re thinking out of the box here, and as unorthodox as it seems, we will now onwards look towards improving our own performance,” the PTI chief added.

While the new radical plan would be given a test run in the Punjab local government elections in March 2022, Imran Khan has informed his party members that the ultimate aim remains the general elections in 2023.

“You have less than two years. All of you need to get out of our comfort zone and do all that you need to do to make sure that I win the next elections — again, winning election now means something completely different to what you’ve previously experienced, at least in my party.”
