I was just an impressionable young 55-year-old when I had said that Benazir Bhutto was responsible for the suicide blast at Karsaaz, Karachi in 2007.
”That was way back in ‘07. Who digs that stuff up?”
Speaking to reporters from his bed at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, the former prime minister said that everybody was young once and they shouldn’t be held to the statements they make in their youth.
“I was just going through my rebellious mid-fifties like most people. In earlier eras, this tumultuous phase used to be forgotten, but is now immortalised because of social media,” he said emphatically. “Though it wasn’t a social media post that I had made but a newspaper op-ed that I had written. But still, you know what I mean.”
