Rs36.8bn allocated for Finance Division projects

  • Rs7.93bn for 23 ongoing projects, Rs3.6bn for 14 new schemes and Rs25.27bn for five development projects in the merged districts of KP

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government presented the Federal Budget 2019-20 in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The government allocated Rs36.821 billion for 42 projects of Finance Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

According to the budgetary document, Rs7.93 billion have been allocated for 23 ongoing development projects, Rs3.60 billion for 14 new schemes and Rs25.27 billion for five ongoing development project located in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Among the ongoing schemes, the government allocated Rs1 billion for construction of Sibbi Rakhni Road via Maiwand (Tall-Kohlu) section, and Rs1 billion for ‘Necessary Facilities of Fresh Water Treatment, Water Supply and Distribution’ in Gwadar.

The government allocated Rs1 billion for Gwadar Development Authority, whereas Rs800 million have been earmarked for the Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme.

Under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), the government allocated Rs500 million for the establishment of Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for the industrial area of Karachi, whereas Rs400 million have been earmarked for the construction of a road from Dirgi Shabozai (N-70) to Taunsa (N-55), Balochistan.

The government allocated Rs500 million for Khyber Institute of Child Health and Children Hospital Peshawar, whereas Rs400 million have been earmarked for five MGD reverse osmosis seawater desalination plants in Gwadar (CPEC).

Among the new schemes, the government has allocated Rs800 million for Dualization of Road from GT Road (Samma) to Gujrat- Dinda Road (including 30km Gujrat flyover), whereas Rs500 million for construction of roads from Sibi-Talli (20 km) and Kohlu-Rakhni (80 km).

An amount of Rs500 million has been earmarked for improvement and rehabilitation of a road from Karappa to Shakardara (35 km) Kohat, whereas Rs350 million have been earmarked to upgrade and rehabilitate Lawrencepur-Tarbela Road.

The government has allocated Rs349 million for improvement, widening and rehabilitation of Main Hangu Thall Road.

It also allocated Rs24 billion for the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whereas Rs400 million have been set aside for widening and improvement of Ghalanai, Mohmand Gatt Road.

An amount of Rs335.177 million has been allocated for construction of Nahqi Tunnel, Mohmand Agency, and Rs275 million for Zyara-Dabori Road, Aurakzai.
