PTI will form govt without coalition partners even if we don’t win majority seats in election: Imran Khan

LAHORE – Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that his party will form the government even if it doesn’t win the majority of the seats in the National Assembly, reiterating he will not form a coalition government again to avoid being “blackmailed”.

Addressing a public gathering at Governor House in Lahore on Tuesday, PM Imran said that this time around Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) will award party tickets only to its ideological workers since it doesn’t matter whether they win their seats.

“I will now give tickets to PTI’s oldest workers and strongest supporters, because I no longer care whether they win any seats. PTI will form the government even if it doesn’t have the majority of National Assembly seats,” he said.

“What we definitely will not make is a coalition government. Even if I am the only one who wins his seat from the entire PTI, I will use that seat alone to form my government. I don’t need anyone else,” Khan added.

He also admitted that his party committed many mistakes in the past, such as getting people who could get more votes than others on board, and paid “heavy price” for those.

“However, we have learned lessons from our mistakes. Now we are not interested in winning elections, whether with the help of electables or the establishment,” he remarked.
