The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has voluntarily relinquished claims of there being a Shiv Lingam at the site of the Gyanvapi Mosque after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had built a consulate on the site after demolishing the mosque.
“It’s okay, we should let bygones be bygone, and let go of something that happened so long ago,” said RSS chief Mohamed Bhagwat, referring to the construction of the consulate 36 hours ago. “Why keep digging at these old issues?”
There was also no backlash from the Indian Muslim community after the three-hundred-and-fifty-year-old mosque was destroyed.
“We have to move forward,” said the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s Akbaruddin Owaisi. “It’s no big deal.”
