ISLAMABAD – Graciously conceding defeat over his ‘peg’ that has rendered everything high in the country, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced that he is making USD$14.86 million available in the market, which can be independently purchased at PKR 199.99 per US dollar.
Talking exclusively with The Dependent Dar confirmed that while he is making this particular amount, laundered for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in the Hudaibya Papers Mills case in the 1990s, available for exchange, it is not the only foreign currency that he is putting in the market.
“Every single dollar that I have earned through any form of misappropriation – and trust me it amounts to a lot of dollars – will be put in the market after these $14.86 million,” Dar said while talking to The Dependent.
“This is me admitting that I was wrong, and making amends for it, in my last dance as the finance minister of Pakistan,” he further told this scribe.
When asked if the dollars he will make available includes those that he has gained, and regained, over the past eight months, the finance minister replied in the affirmative.
“Yes, every single one of those dollars will be available at exactly 199.99 rupees per dollar,” he confirmed.
“Not a single paisa less. Not a single paisa more.”
