COLOMBO — Protesters who stormed the residences of the Sri Lankan president and prime minister were left disappointed after finding out that the bathroom of the main bedroom of the presidential palace was already besieged by a foreigner.
Failing at first to identify the man camping inside the luxurious bathtub in President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s bathroom were informed that the stranger is a fellow South Asian who instigated the most recent wave of ‘occupy bathtubs’ protests in the region.
“We have been enjoying in the pool and playing cards in the living room, but our desire to use the presidential bathtub remains unfulfilled,” noted one of the thousands of protesters demanding the resignations of the Sri Lankan president and prime minister, while talking to The Dependent.
After finding the presidential bathroom occupied, hundreds of protesters went to the Prime Minister house only to be shocked to find Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s bathtub occupied by the same man.
“Or someone who looks exactly like him,” remarked another protester.
“And he is saying he won’t leave any bathtub in the president or the prime minister’s house till they both resign.”
