Harm caused by returning mic to Ramiz Raja balanced by taking mic away from Najam Sethi: analysts

LAHORE – In a move that is destined to revamp the nation’s ripples and, according to experts, rejig the universe, the microphone was exchanged between two of the country’s prominent voices behind the mic on Thursday.

As veteran journalist Najam Sethi is set to replace former captain Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), experts believe that the swap, while gigantic in significance in their respective domains, will eventually balance itself out.

“Ramiz Raja commentating again on Pakistan cricket matches will indeed disrupt the order of the universe,” Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) Chairman Maj. Gen. Amer Nadeem told The Dependent.

“However, a SUPARCO study conducted this week confirms that the universe will retrace its equilibrium when Najam Sethi stops commentating on Pakistani politics,” he added.

Political analysts, however, say the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the one that would lose out the most in this rearrangement.

“They said that they would be taking difficult decisions, but it doesn’t get more difficult than putting Ramiz Raja back in the commentary box,” said leading political expert Suhail Warraich.

“It might be the final nail in the coffin of the PML-N’s aspirations for reelection, which Najam Sethi won’t be able to drum up via media talk-shows,” he added.

However, while the general consensus remains over a balance of power being restored by giving Ramiz Raja back the mic and taking the mic away from Najam Sethi, some analysts remain adamant that PML-N isn’t the only loser in this move.

“It is horrific that Ramiz Raja has been removed as the PCB chairman. Under Ramiz Raja the Pakistani team was proactive, aggressive, decisive, and played a brand of modern cricket. I demand restoration as the PCB chairman for Ramiz Raja,” said leading cricket analyst Ramiz Raja.
