Nation’s salary-deprived journalists file, edit Labour Day news stories

Reporters and newsroom personnel from across the nation filed stories pertaining to International Labour Day on the first of May, on the first of May, reports would imply.

“The journalists all prepared stories about rallies that demanded safer facilities, better working conditions, five-day workweek and timely release of dues for workers across the nation,” read a statement by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists.

“Yes, I was there, I took photographs,” said Saeed Ahmed, a photojournalist at a daily newspaper in Lahore. “I will go to the head office across the city so that they don’t mark by absent. E-mailing from here is not allowed.”

“Otherwise they might deduct it from the salary that they don’t give me,” he added.
