Wasim Akram takes professional break; says will seek rehabilitation

Once the right hand man of former Pakistan Captain and prime minister Imran Khan, Wasim Akram has decided to take an indefinite break from the skipper’s team to focus on his personal health and well-being.

A visibly emotional Wasim made the announcement at a press conference in Lahore late on Friday afternoon. He has now become one of the many members of Imran Khan’s team to quit after a party organised by the team and it’s fans turned sour on the 9th of May.

“I have been thinking long and hard and have decided I am in desperate need of rehabilitation. This is not a new problem in me. I’ve been fighting this battle for a while and need your support and prayers at this time.”

Akram’s statement was brief but he leaves behind years of greatness and a legacy defined by a devoted cult-following. According to detail’s available with _The Dependent_ Akram will be entering into a rehabilitation programme paid for by the team management.

“I think I’ve let a lot of people down. Especially the ones that count. I’m really happy to have their support right now and hope that perhaps I’ll be able to use my talents in the near future if a new team is formed.”
